Explore the Earth at Eldredge Public Library

This April, we at the Chatham Conservation Foundation are excited to partner with the Eldredge Public Library to bring a full month of Earth-focused programming to the community.

April 1–30: Making a Case for Dark Skies

Throughout the month, we invite you to explore Making a Case for Dark Skies, a compelling poster exhibition and photo collection highlighting the importance of preserving dark skies on Cape Cod. Featuring work by Peter Pilon and Charlie Worrick, the exhibit examines how reducing light pollution benefits wildlife, ecosystems, and our shared connection to the night sky.

If you’re inspired by what you see, we hope you’ll continue the conversation with us at our community forum on dark skies, taking place Thursday, April 23 at the Chatham Community Center. Find more information here: Join us for the 4th Annual Chatham Earth Week Town Forum

In addition, the library’s main display case will feature information about participating organizations, offering a closer look at the many groups working to protect and preserve our local environment.

Featured Talk: Ecological Gardening with Cathy Weston.

We’re also pleased that EPL will host Cathy Weston, CCF Trustee, for A Season-by-Season Guide to Ecological Gardening. In this engaging talk, Cathy will share practical strategies for creating a more sustainable, biodiverse garden using native plants and eco-friendly practices.

Attendees will learn what birds, bees, and pollinators need throughout the year, how to support them at home, and how to incorporate native plants into their landscapes. A curated plant list and additional resources will be provided.

Cathy is an ecological and native-plant landscape designer with a Certificate in Native Plant Horticulture and Design. She is currently restoring her property into a coastal woodland and pollinator garden and is actively involved in habitat restoration efforts through her work with CCF.

Registration is strongly recommended for this event.

Explore, Read, and Get Involved

Throughout April, visitors can also enjoy Earth Month book displays for all ages, featuring topics such as climate, conservation, native plants, and sustainable living.

We hope you’ll join us this April, at the library and beyond, as we celebrate Mother Earth, learn together, and take meaningful steps to protect our local environment.
