Chatham Conservation
Foundation is a volunteer organization that relies on the
community for not only financial
support, but also assistance with ongoing projects. Volunteers
are used to maintain the 3 walking
trails throughout the year making sure that trails are
clear of debris and occasionally to erect fencing and railings
and build benches. The Mayo House
is staffed by a volunteer Director and 10 or more docents
who lead informative tours of the house throughout the summer
months. Volunteer stewards are beginning to make sure that
no dumping of trash, no cutting or clearing or any other
unauthorized use occurs on Foundation properties. In addition,
there is a need for assistance with cataloging properties,
publicity, membership and fund-raising.
